WINDOW PROJECT

before

Lindsey and I painted the kitchen a sage green color and I have been wanting to convert the drywall return to a wood extention jamb and caseing on the windows. With a weekend with no wife and kid, I took on the project.

I installed the extention jambs and caseing on all 5 windows along the back. I filled in the nail holes and the joints between the window, ejs, & caseing. I decided that was enough for the day and I preped for prime and paint. The next morning I did some sanding then wraped up the prime and paint. The last step was to rehang the blinds. Some of the blinds I hat to cut down to fit in the new opening.

I am happy the way it turned out. The pictures don't do a justice. I still need to paint the living room and that will make the windows pop. The window over the sink did not get caseing but I did add a shelf on the outside to the patio as a pass threw window.

1999 HONDA MAGNA TAC & SPEEDO

1999 HONDA MAGNA
 TAC & SPEEDO

You may have noticed the covers to my TAC & SPEEDO are beat up in the pictures in other Magana projects. I decided it was times fix them up but with a change. First step fixing the damage. By heating up the plastic I was able to shape them closer to the original shape. The remainder I will leave to the bondo.
Next came primer and more sanding.

I decided black would be a nice touch.

After allowing it to dry completely I reconnected the lights and wires. Reinstalling was a bit more difficult the tacking them off mostly because the fresh paint and not wanting to scratch them.

GARDEN TABLE

GARDEN TABLE

For Mothers Day I decided to to make Lindsey a garden table so she can do some minor gardening on her feet.I started by making a 2x8 box. At the hardware store I found some dog and cat scratch proof door screen and some metal strap I will use for the bottom.

Steve came over to help and brought over some leftover gardening cloth that will hold in the gardening soil better that just the screen.

we added support in the center to keep the 2X8s  from bowing under the weight of the dirt.

Filled it with soil.
Added some plants. The last photo was taken while working on a window project but it shows some of the growth  of the herbs.

GUNSMITHINNG

Dad and I were talking before Christmas and I think we had the same idea at the same time. Give John, Pop's old 22 rifle for Christmas. It needed to be cleaned up so I told Dad I will pick it up and give it an over hall. He told me not to grab the other old 22 rifle that it was is real bad shape and it did not work. Bingo! That will be my gift to Dad for Christmas. So I swung by and picked up the two rifles and got to work.

MOSSBERG 151
The Mossberg was in rough shape and not working. My goal was to at least get the gun looking nice and clean with no rust and boy was there rust.
This is not a great picture but you can see most of the surface rust and it continued to the inside. After I cleaned it all up and blued. I set it out on the bar for my dad to see. When he and my Mom came home he looked at it and said wow John's gun looks good! When he realized that it was the Mossberg he was very excited. His reaction made all the work more than worth it.

NO MORE RUST!!
