The Beast
The Magna is a project I picked up at the end of 09. I did the basic fix-up that I do to any vehicle I purchase. Replace spark-plugs, check air-filter, run some sort of carb-cleaner threw it. I also picked up a back-seat for Mama. She is not so keen on the volume of the Magna but she did admit she likes it when I rev it up while going under a bridge. Gotta say I am a fan of the rumble my self. Magna has low miles about 5,950mi but is a little rough around the edges. The poor bike has taken a tumble more than once. But this is one of the reasons in purchasing this bike. If dropped I will be much less angry then dropping a flawless bike. Shortly after the picture above was taken the wind blew Magna over. Just finished detailing and I had the handlebars straight. I went in side to cool down. After sitting down my neighbor knocks at the door to tell me the wind knocked my bike over. Gerrrrr! After standing it up and looking it over it landed on all the old scratches and dents. Well I guess its time for the slide show of all the projects on the Magna. Enjoy! The faring in front of the tank was discolored so I repainted.
Time for new tires. With no jack its time for some do-it-yourself ingenuity.

Time for the forks
After cleaning and polishing the rims I had the new tires mounted.
I also polished up some parts that got dingy over the years.

Steve and I took the Tank off so I could get to the air box to check the air filter and do some cleaning.

Rear wheel, break, and chain wraps up the the tear down project.
TAC & SPEEDO
You may have noticed the covers to my TAC & SPEEDO are beat up in the pictures in other Magana projects. I decided it was times fix them up but with a change. First step fixing the damage. By heating up the plastic I was able to shape them closer to the original shape. The remainder I will leave to the bondo.
Next came primer and more sanding.

I decided black would be a nice touch.
After
allowing it to dry completely I reconnected the lights and wires.
Reinstalling was a bit more difficult the tacking them off mostly
because the fresh paint and not wanting to scratch them.

I found a deal on some used pipes that need much TLC. I am still in the process of cleaning them up but they are looking much better already. The pipes are stock pipes but I plan on removing the baffles because the wife says they are not loud enough. I also bought a K&N air filter and installed. I found it on eBay for half price including shipping. I took a quick drive and was impressed on the difference. I figured slight better throttle response and MPG. I opened her up and it was like I released the inner beast. GRRRRR! Nice. Besides little things the next big step is corroborators. After all the changes to intake and the exhaust the carbs will need adjusting and cleaning while in there.

2014 and back to work on the beast. I made Great changes in my opinion. check it out and see. Please let me know what you think. If you have a Magna project contact me I would love to see what you have done.
I bought a set of stock pipes off a 1994 Magna that is a bit scratched up but I got such a good deal so who cares. with the K&N air filter installed my plan was to do a carb job rejet & clean. the stock baffles work well. quiet. That is not my style so out they came. Well in 94 they welded the baffles in. time for dremel tool w/grinding wheel. Once they broke loose it was a bitch to hammer out but they finally gave.
