Sometimes in life something on your vehicle will crap out and you are forced to pick up a wrench and embark on a new and exciting adventure.Well this time it was the truck. Plus it was not just 1 thing crapping out it was 2! Dealership quoted $1200 for the Anti-Lock Brake module and $800 for the Fuel Pump.
BEFORE
This is the Anti-Lock Brake module. With help of some friends I was able to find someone to rebuild the module for $160 if I removed it and brought it to him. DONE! It was not a difficult job. 4 #10 torques screws and 3 wire connectors. The tough part was getting to the module and the screws. Mounted between the frame and the bottom of the cab I had 3" or so between the module and the cab. All and all a simple job and big savings$$$$$.
AFTER
I was hoping the fuel pump would go just as smooth as the module but as you can guess it was a bitch and 1/2. With the help of my bud Steve we droped the tank, disconnected and pop out the pump.  $100 later we were back at the house with a new pump and fuel filter.
At the auto parts place they informed me that I would have to rewire the connectors
on the truck to connect the new pump. Yeaaa another surprise! Ok not a big deal
but I did learn a trick watching a how to on youtube.
Wiring went great then dropped the pump in the tank and for the life of me we could not lock the pump in place. Thankfully it snapped into place right before we gave up and went to starring at it while drinking a beer. That's when I do my best thinking. Shoving the tank back in to place we reconnected straps and fill-tube. After all is complete we gave the old pump a proper funeral. No i didn't burn it! Lindsey wouldn't let me. So to wrap things up the truck is running good, I saved some BUCKS, and life experiences were had. :-)
